As we start our inaugural first season, Athens Pro Hockey is seeking a well-qualified, high energy, self-motivated individual with a “TEAM” mentality for the Vice President of Sales role. Preferably looking for a candidate with current or prior professional/college team and/or venue ticket sales and business operations management experience.

Job Summary:

The Vice President of Sales will be a “leader by example” – working closely with the President to direct staff; set goals and manage execution; and drive revenue. A successful candidate for this role will; help staff reach daily/monthly team goals, coach members to reach individual goals, run sales contests and meetings, participate in training sessions and conference calls with management, and lead regularly scheduled staff training with all sales reps. Will be responsible for managing the Athens Pro Hockey ticketing system (PACIOLAN) and generating commission reports, transactions data, as well as working with the venue Box Office staff to ensure all ticketing processes are operational on Gameday.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Generate Revenue using all sales methods, including face-to-face appointments, cold calls, arena tours, prospecting and networking. This individual will be seen, not just as a leader in the office, but a leader in the community.
  • Teach sales staff proper selling techniques and tactics
  • Continually train staff to get better by observing their activities (i.e. roleplays, real calls, appointments, and emails), pointing out areas for improvement, and helping them become valuable contributors to the team
  • Create campaign schedule to ensure complete prospecting canvas of all products.
  • Coach staff with weekly one-on-one meetings to get a better understanding of how they are progressing and provide feedback on issues they are facing
  • Hold reps accountable for meeting daily sales activity (calls, appointments, emails, etc.)
  • Instruct staff on how to prospect new business opportunities for themselves
  • Work with Leadership to determine staff and departmental short and long-term sales goals, then strive to exceed those goals. This individual will play a critical role in all departments of Business Operations in the Front Office.
  • Help create a sales budget for all ticket and corporate revenues

Desired Qualifications:

  • At least 2-3 years industry-experience, preferably with a professional sports team, managing a staff of 3+

JOB DESCRIPTION:

As we start our inaugural first season here in Athens Georgia, Athens Pro Hockey is looking for an excited and talented individual for the Director of Business Development. The Director of Business Development will be responsible for maximizing ticket and sponsorship revenue for Athens Pro Hockey through the retention of new business and new sales of Season Tickets, Group Tickets, Ticket Packages, Event Suites, and In-Game Programs. Revenue goals will be set for the Director of Business Development and tracked with regular meetings with the Vice President of Sales.

The Director of Business Development is a relationship builder, someone who can connect with the Athens community, schools, and other groups and help them plan a memorable evening with the team. The Director of Business Development is a party planner, organizer, and is the one willing to put in the effort so that others can enjoy themselves.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Generate ticket and sponsorship revenue using all sales methods, including face to face appointments, texting, emailing, phone calls, arena tours, prospecting, and networking
  • Manage relationships with various accounts to exceed established sales goals; Conduct high amounts of new business meetings and outreach daily
  • Plan, develop, and execute strategic group sales promotions and theme nights by creating a unique offer and targeted sales campaign to a specific niche group or community.
  • Prospecting to generate new business relationships; responsible for hosting client meetings and potential client presentations on a regular basis
  • Provide prompt, thorough, and courteous responses to all inbound & outbound customer communication – phone calls, emails, mail, etc.; Maintain high level of customer service to existing and new clients
  • Perform “game day” responsibilities, including entertaining clients and prospects, as well as working ticket sales booths and tables
  • Attend team, community, and other events for purpose of maximizing sales opportunities
  • Provide sales reports and contact status back to management on a daily and weekly basis during Goal Setting Meetings

SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITY:

The Director of Business Development must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skill and abilities:

  • Highly organized, resourceful, detailed-oriented, quick learner and time management skills
  • Excellent relationship building and customer service skills.
  • Ability to learn in a team environment and adhere to departmental guidelines
  • Ability to professionally communicate and interact with all levels of management
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook; ability to learn required business systems
  • Ability to professionally handle highly sensitive and confidential information
  • Knowledge in Paciolan or other ticketing and CRM software preferred

QUALIFICATION STANDARDS:

Education:

  • A minimum education level of: A minimum education level of: BA/BS Degree (4-year)

Desired Experience:

  • 1-2 years of related work/internship experience.
  • Must be able to work game nights, weekends, holidays, and select ticket sales and public relations events.
